About Audrey
-
Black Box Acting was founded by best friends Laura Hooper and Audrey Francis, on a back porch in Logan Square, Chicago. Their mission was to build a training center for actors to practice working hard and being fearless. What started as just 12 students in two classes has expanded to serve more than 2500 students across three programs. Audrey Francis is the founder of Black Box. She is also an ensemble member at Steppenwolf Theatre and has worked as an actor, director, and instructor in Chicago for over ten years. Audrey’s most recent projects include: Performing in The Doppelgänger at Steppenwolf Theatre, co-starring in independent film, Signature Move, directing The Invisible Hand at Steep Theatre, and voiceover campaigns for Ford, Kenmore, Moen, and Allstate. Audrey’s motivation to found Black Box was her desire to build a home where artists can push their limits, to create a process actors can count on, and train actors to do two things: Work Hard and Be Fearless.
